| Who hasn't heard about
Middle Of The Road?
The central figure of
this Scottish band of course is blonde female singer
and front-woman; Sally Carr, MOTR's original
voice since the early '70's. It seems as if
time hasn't had any effect on Sally, her
performance still has that wonderful, soft
but strong voice which keeps attracting
people to their many gigs and festivals.
In 1970 the band was founded; they had a
little success here and there, which didn't
last long though. Due to financial reasons
they had to stay in Italy, where they were
then and couldn't go back to England for a
while... simply because there was no money
to pay the trip.
Then, after an Englishman in Roma wrote them
a catchy song, they got the credits they
deserved. The song raced to the top of the
charts all over the world. This song was
Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. Soon then they
got in touch with a RCA-Director and so
began their fairy-tail like career.....MOTR
became also the backing band for many artists.
One of them was Sophia Loren for the film
The Priest's Wife, where they appeared
together with Sophia on a single for the
soundtrack of that Movie..
With 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep
Cheep' they got a number 1 hit in 1971,
which was followed up by 7 more top ten
singles.
As said, Sally Carr's Middle Of The Road are still a
major attraction, a band you have to see and
hear even today. The band is tight and loves
to be on stage. At many oldie festivals and
other music events you can enjoy Sally's
timeless voice, sounding exactly as she was
in the '70s. Sing along with
"Soley Soley",
"Samson and Delilah", "Sacramento",
"Bottoms Up" and many many more...
Their
Future is still as bright as it always was.
