JIMMY JAMES
and the VAGABONDS |
One
of the legends of British Soul was Jimmy
James and his band The Vagabonds.
In the early 70s Jimmy signed up to Biddo's
production company as a solo artist, though
the name Jimmy James & The Vagabonds was
preserved. The first record to become a hit
was 'I'll Go Where The
Music Takes Me' which was never quite
as big as it should have been. The problem,
according to Jimmy, was that its success
took the record company by surprise, because
no one had much faith in him ever really
making it. The next one 'Now
Is The Time' was more successful.
The album 'Don't Stand
A Chance' is still sounding wonderful.
And he released one of the best titled
singles ever with 'If You Think This Funk Is
Junk, You're Drunk'.
Nowadays Jimmy is still very busy, appearing
in cabaret, doing an incredible good set. If
you want good Soul, brought to you by an
entertainer who loves to enjoy the public,
then do yourself a favor.. see Jimmy James
and the Vagabonds.
