In
1962 Chip (Len) Hawkes
began with what would become an amazing
music career. During a German tour with
another band, the Tremeloes asked him to
join their band as Bassist, songwriter and
leadsinger. The Trems had many hits. To name
a few: Here comes my baby, Silence is
golden, Suddenly you love me, Even the bad
times are good and not to forget Chip's self
penned song "Call me number One" in 1969.
Still well-known and still to be heard at
many gigs and festivals in the 60s and 70s
circuit.
The Tremeloes toured extensively with the
Beatles, the Rollingstones, the Who, the
Hollies, the Kinks and many more. Then in
1974 the band split up and Chip Hawkes went
to America for a few years to write a couple
of albums. After his return to the UK, in
1979, he reformed the Tremeloes because
there was still a huge request for this
band. The band played and toured all over
the world again.
In 1988 they called it a day and Chip
concentrated purely on his son Chesney's
career. Chesney Hawkes got a worldwide
number one hit with"The One and Only" in
1991 and got a lead part in a movie
alongside Roger Daltrey.
In 1992 the charming and successful
Chip Hawkes
returned in the music scene to perform again.
