Nazareth
The hard rock band Nazareth from Scottish origine had several hits in the later 70s. One of the most known is the power ballad, "Love Hurts." The band was formed in 1968.
Vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet were the members of the first hour.
In 1971 their released their first album. After they moved to London they were in the top ten of the charts in 1973 after they issued Roger Glover's produced Razamanaz with "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy".
In 1974 "Loud 'n Proud followed.
Due to the release of Hair of the Dog, one year later, Nazareth was known as an international hard rock band. "Love Hurts" sold more than 1000.000 copies in the USA. Nazareth released a string of more than 100 albums;
In 1979, Zal Cleminson joined the band and the quartet changed into a quintet. Zal was with them for a couple of albums and then left.
John Locke who had been keyboard player with Spirit replaced him.
After the 1981 Snaz album, guitarist Bill Rankin also joined, but John Locke left which did Rankin switch to keyboards.
Nazareth's commercial appeal had dwindled across the U.K. and the USA. By the mid-'80s, Nazareth was left without a record contract and it was only in 1992 that they returned with "No Jive"and in 1999 "Boogaloo".
The band produced an album again in 2008 in Hamburg-Germany, The Newz,. This coincided with the band's fourtieth anniversary tour that year.
NAZARETH tour still world wide for huge audiences and are one of the most frequent asked hard rock bands.
